SEO For Local Listings

Posted by Dicky On 30 September 2009

So the difference between organic search rankings and the other type is that organic search results happen when you just type in the keyword. The other type, the one that I'll be writing about are the kind where you add a city name to the search to find the top ranking results for the keywords you type, for that city.In order to get a spot on the list, you have to have a city address, from here on in we'll be using Winnipeg as an example. Usually, if you're making a website for a business, they will already have a listing, a business listing.

I make my living improving my websites search engine rankings regularly so I can honestly sit here and tell you there is more bad information about search engine optimization than need be. What if I could tell you that reaching higher rankings is easier than you may think? By working with a variety of websites I have come to learn that top ranked sites all have 5 considerations that are very similar, and not by accident. In this article I will share these common attributes that will help take your website from ranking below page five to competing with the top sites on page one on major search engines.

First consideration. Anchor text of links that point towards your website should include keywords related to the content of your site, search engines use anchor text to determine the content of your website. So now you need to go through all of the links pointing towards your website and check to make sure they are including these keywords in their anchor tags. Here's a quick example:
<a target="_new" rel="nofollow" href="www.mywebsite.com">www.mywebsite.com</a>
Second Consideration is using keywords in the title and meta tags. Meta tags are effective in telling the search engines what content to expect when they spider a webpage. This can help your rankings. Keep in mind some major Engines ignore these tags but you still want to use it for the smaller ones that still do read it. Here is an example for a toy car website:
meta name="keywords" content="toy cars, toy car sales, toy car history, prices"
Third consideration is link popularity. This is a simple concept. The more outside websites that have links pointing towards your page, the better your ranking is in search results.
Fourth Consideration is link diversity. If you have 50 links on 5 websites you will have a lower ranking than if you had 50 links on 25 websites. This will represent higher popularity and results in a higher rank. So make sure your getting out there and getting your link on as many websites as possible to increase popularity which will increase rank.

And the final consideration is, MAKE SURE YOU USE A DOMAIN NAME! If you use a sub domain you are going to lose a lot of brownie points with search engines so if you have the means go and buy a domain.
Use this article as a guideline when building and updating your website and you can be confident that your search engine rankings will go up. Remember all of these points that I have covered are equally as important so do not over look any of them and optimize all of these points to maximize your rank and get the best results.

I had someone track me down through a blog today, and ask me how I learnt about SEO, and did I have any certificates to prove how good I was. (I think he doubted me)
Anyway, no. I didn't learn SEO from a school, I learnt it by trial and error, but thought you might be interested to know about my humble beginnings.

I first started learning about SEO almost 10 years ago, before I knew it had a name.
We owned a Stock Photography Bank in New Zealand, and I noticed that if words were repeated on a page several times, that that page was like to appear higher in search engine results, the more times the word was repeated the higher it would appear in search engine results.

Through my interest, and inquistive nature, I realised if the title of the webpage - the bit that shows at on the top bar of your browser - had the same keywords, the page didn't need to have the word repeated so many times and yet it would still appear high, and sometimes higher, in search engines.

Time went on, and I learnt how to read the code that makes up any webpage, and found there were other places that, if the keywords were repeated, that the page would rank even better in search engines.
Through applying what I learnt, and I have to admit making a few mistakes, I managed to get our Stock Photo Bank, ranking right up on page one of Google, often higher than the world's largest stock photo banks like Corbis and Getty.

Once I saw this happening I was hooked. I found out about website statistics, and how to find out how many people were visiting my website, where they were coming from, what browsers they used, even what time of day they visited most, and then noticed how visitors rose at the same time my website started ranking well, and that each change I made that increased our site visablity, increased the amount of visitors. Now I was an utter addict.

I also found that changing the words slightly on every page, I could get the website listing higher for many different search.

Whats this SEO thing?
Somewhere about here, someone told me about SEO, and how it sounded like pretty much like what I was doing.
I joined a few forums, and mailing lists (about 50 different things). And yes, that's what I had been doing. I found though that many of the SEO big wigs were giving people information of how to do things, and the information wasn't true. It sounded good, but from experience I knew better ways of doing it.
I started adding my comments to posts and got a few people's dander up: who was I, an uneducated hick from New Zealand of all places, telling them what to do... I didn't tell anyone what to do, I just suggested different ways.... and when I pointed out the SEO was so new, it was, and still is hard to get an education from anywhere, I was barred from a forum.

I still belong to a few forums, that aren't owned by SEO gurus, but usually withhold my comments now or at least the ones I make on forums. Anyway back then....
I had the coder that kept the photo gallery running, and had him add SEO features, and so were the beginnings of a SEF CMS. I didn't know then 6 years later I would eventually build a Search Engine Friendly, Content Management System.

We started building website for other people. And I applied what I knew to their sites, not realizing others could see the skills I had. Then someone wrote to me, about our stock photo bank, and asked why they always saw it in search engines, for every search they ever did for photos and stock photos. He asked me if i could do the same thing with his site, and offered me $1000.... wow this was cool, getting paid for something I would have done for free!

And so it went, I wouldn't and won't take a job unless I knew I could make a difference, and until recently websites that were database driven were a challenge I couldn't rise to - I didn't know how to edit codes for these sites, as it was very different to sites that where html.

Recently I met a coder, who is now working for me regularly, that will add coding to database driven website, opening up a whole new world be me, so now I can do SEO on any website I'm presented with.
To date I have done SEO on over different 40 websites, and am currently working on 7 sites, I have a personal limit of 10 sites at a time, as I like to give each site the time it deserves.

I now have 4 people working for me, doing the more time consuming aspects of SEO's like directory submissions, and finding linking partners, but I always do the important work myself as I like to know exactly what's going on.

I understand that people coming to me for my services are in need of help, and often wonder if the investment I'm asking them to make will be worthwhile, when I know they have tried so many other things, and are dubious about this working. The least I can do is make sure it works, and the only way to do that is to do the work myself.

I have noticed that other people I employ to work for me, just don't have the instinct or gut feelings that are needed to be an SEO, and while they are happy to do the work, they just can't see how important it is, that any payment they may get must bring results to the person that paid them.

My goal with SEO is to earn $2000USD a month, and with up to 10 smaller business paying me $200 a month on average, this is obtainable. Sure I should charge more than what I do, but to be quite honest, I don't want to earn that $2000 and more from just one big company, but at the rate I should charge, I would only be working 20 hours a month.

I live on the computer, so could do 20 hours work in one sitting, what would I do for the rest of the month? I'd far rather help out 10 smaller businesses, and work for less, and give those 10 clients more results than they expect.

The affiliate marketing business model can be simply defined as a partnership between the merchant and the promoter where the promoter will get a certain percentage of the net sale as commission when the promoter is able to refer a customer to purchase the merchant's product. This is very useful when the newbies have just started this business and they do not have their own product. They will be able to start this business fast by promoting other people's product.

The list building model on the other hand can be simply defined as a process where you will be collecting a group of customer's details using a professional autoresponder and following up with them consistently over a period of time with information or resources that they are interested in.

From the above definition, it will be a very powerful strategy if we combine the affiliate marketing strategy with the list building strategy. As you will be able to start the business fast by promoting other people's product, you will be able to build your own list at the same time while you are making some sales. The easiest approach is to have a simple squeeze page where the main purpose is to get the visitors details.
When you have the squeeze page, you will be using the list building to build your list and you will be redirecting your subscribers to your affiliate link once they join your list. This ensures that there is the first point of promoting the product to them. Even if they do not purchase the product, you will still be able to follow up with them through email as you have their contact details.

This is very powerful as most of the sales come from the following up emails with the subscribers. The main reason is because the subscribers will have already received several emails from you and they are more familiar with you. People will only purchase products from someone that they can trust and you will want to make sure that you are the person that they can trust. Do put in the effort to build a good relationship with them and you will be richly rewarded.

If you want to work from home in Australia,  there are many great options for people who are skilled with information technology, content creation, marketing, or financial trading. But even in the age of the internet, every economy still needs people who can make quality, tangible goods that can be sold. At root, this is what all finance and profit are based upon: Somewhere, somebody is making something valuable.

This simple fact is easy to forget, which is why so many people have given up on making tangible products and have focused all their energies on web-based business. That's why now is the perfect time to create your own product line from home. By going against the trend, you can fill a niche that has been underserved since the rise of the internet.

But if it seems like I'm bad-mouthing the internet, think again. Once you create your own product line, the internet is going to make it possible for you to reach millions more customers than would've been possible a couple of decades ago. With this plan, you'll combine old-fashioned manufacturing with 21st century sales and promotion to create a business whose profit potential is limitless.

To get started, follow these steps.
1. Brainstorm: Make a list of products you could potentially create. If you have any special talents, start with those. Some examples of products that people have had success with are clothing, jewelry, pottery, buttons, posters, bumper stickers, greeting cards, toys, and office supplies. If you can, come up with ideas that are original but also likely to appeal to a large number of people.

2. Narrow it down: Pick your top five or ten choices, and do some internet research. If there are already hundreds of successful websites selling a product, then you may want to rule out that option. If you're sure that one of your products is very useful or in high demand but there aren't a lot of people already selling it, consider going with that one.

3. Start Making Things: Turn off the computer, and start manufacturing your profitable products. This will be the most time-consuming part of the process, as it should be. You may have to research techniques for making your product, and you may have to practice before perfecting it. But try to create a solid foundation of stock that you can start selling.

4. Create a Website: If you want to work from home in Australia by selling your own product line but have never created a website, you still have plenty of options. There are many services out there that will help you with everything you need, from web design to payment options. If you have web design skills, all the better, but there are countless services ready to help you with this.

5. Promote Your Product: There are many possibilities for promoting your website online. Add plenty of keyword-rich content to your site, and sign up for services that can help move you up in the Google search rankings. For subtler strategies, start with article marketing, where you create content that is targeted to your ideal customers, and go from there. The more targeted traffic you can draw to your website, the more product you will sell.

The following are 5 ways that an Internet marketing newbie can make some easy money to get a good foot-hold started in this industry. Here is a description of 5 of the most common ways to do it.
Affiliate Marketing: Creating your own products is not the only way to make money online. One of the most common and most successful ways to make money online, especially in the beginning, is by selling other peoples' products. This is known as affiliate marketing and consists of you promoting and selling other Internet marketers' products and making a percentage off each sale.

Article Marketing: This path consists of writing three to five articles a day and submitting them for sale on online article directories. This can make money in one of two ways. It can either make you money as a freelance writer where people will pay you per word, or more commonly, the articles are used to drive traffic your web page and get buyers to purchase whatever products you are trying to sell.

Blogging: This is one of the most effective ways to make money in the beginning with ad sales and affiliate links on your blogs . All you have to do is pick a market that you have some basic knowledge of, write articles, and post them on the blog. This is also a great way to build trust among the people looking at your page so when you do start on your own products, you will be well known and more likely to make sales.
Social Networking: This is another way to drive massive amount of traffic to either your blogs or product pages. One of the best uses for this, much like blogging, is to provide a level of trust and to build friendships in the industry.

Info Product Creation: This consists of finding a niche you are comfortable with and writing reports and e-books to provide solutions to common problems within the niche. Not only does this let you write about something that you are passionate about, it is also a great way to make a bundle of money as well.
I advise choosing one or more of these methods that sounds interesting and researching it further to get started. The best route for the newbie to take is to read some examples online and then do the most important thing you can do: Take Action! Get out there and make some money!

Let's talk about making money with CPA offers. Why? Well, they happen to be one of the best, easiest and FASTEST ways to make real money online, for any real skill or experience level. And you can start pretty much immediately, once you understand how simple they really are to convert into cash.
Now, understand this before we begin: Lots of people have lots of different "definitions" of what the acronym CPA stands for. Let's just call it "cost per action" for simplicity sake, and not care too much how smart we sound, or how much "knowledge" we have about the right sorts of "names" to drop when discussing this stuff, ok?

The EASIEST way to Monetize CPA offers is This:
Put up a review blog and just go to one of the many different networks that specialize in these offers and pick a few of the good ones. DON'T be scared off by the "guru speak".Yes, some networks are harder to get accepted to these days (mostly due to affiliate fraud problems) but there are PLENTY of solid networks, with super solid offers out there to choose from, that will accept you.

Take 10 products and give yourself a 10 day window. Write 10 reviews of the products you want to promote and stick them on the blog. Don't lie. Use VERBIAGE that reflects what other credible people are saying about the products, if you haven't tried them yourself. (which in all likelihood, if you're just getting started, you won't have) Don't make up fake "personalities" and create these fake blogs, either. They are being shut down...and people are being prosecuted for doing it. Just create 10 reviews, of 10 real products and post them on your blog.

Change the reviews a wee bit, and submit them to EzineArticles dot com. It's free, and very powerful. Use your resource box to build a nice incoming link, for the PRODUCT name, specifically, on each review revision you submit. Pick the appropriate category, and you are off to the races.
(in the interest of time and space....there is only so much I can squeeze in here...but the above is ALL you need to make one or two sales a day, and pay outs with most CPA offers, especially the "free trial" variety are from 35 bucks a pop and UP)

The key is getting traffic from the directories, AND organic search (which you will if your articles are unique) and ultimately, PPC as well when you're ready to reinvest your profits...and that's when things REALLY get fun!

Domain Business? Not For Everyone 0

Posted by administrator On 11:05 AM 0 comments

How much is a domain really worth?
A domain name is worth exactly as much as a buyer is willing to pay for it.  Although self-called experts state that "An expert evaluation of a domain name's value is critical intelligence for domain buyers and sellers looking to determine a fair market price" domain appraisal is not an exact science. A domain reseller might be successful but only if he learns to spot the rare opportunities where he can buy for a low price and sell in a short time making a difference. It's a risky business indeed and it's not for everyone.
Take these Numbers and Facts from SEDO (February 2008):
  • Domain transaction volume per month: > $6 million
  • Number of members: 690,000
  • Number of domains in our database: 11,500,000
  • Number of parked domains: 3,200,000
  • Number of domains sold per month: > 1,900
They are telling you that in a year they sell roughly 2,000*12=24,000 domains from a total of 11,500,000. That's only a 0.2%.So what happens to the remaining 99.8%? They must be renewed or they are dropped. Nobody adds a domain to SEDO's database without expecting to sell it before having to pay renewal fees, but only 2 out of 1000 succeed. Their declared monthly transaction volume is >6M, that means an average of 6,000,000/1,900=3,157$/domain. Really attractive end price, but only for the lucky 0,2% sellers...
Those who can't sell will lose an average of 110M/year in renewal fees. Needles to say that someone struggling to sell may pay for their "expert appraisals" and their "featured places" and spend an extra 50-100$ in his valuable domain.

This is a highly speculative market. There are few winners and many, many losers. An average Joe will certainly belong to the 99,8% losers group. He has better chances to win at the casino compared to investing in this marketplace.

Domain Parking
If you park a domain you get a page full of ads. They pay you for surfers clicking these ads and you may get some money. But they surely get much more than you. SEDO pays 0,03-0,05$/click. A domain, on average, gets less than 3 clicks a month because traffic is restricted to potential buyers (random natural traffic is meaningless). So you might expect to cover 1-2$ of the 10$ renewal fee. But there are better parking offers. GoDaddy pays 60-80% of the real PPC (Pay Per Click) revenue. If you want higher percentages you must pay them a monthly fee. You end up loosing more than without parking. A website owner with a Google AdSense for Domains parking may get better results, but only if the domain name features high average PPC Exact Keywords and there is enough traffic (and Google decides that he is playing by their ever changing rules and pays him).

A New Concept
Domain Share Trading is a new concept for domain investors. A domain is subdivided into 100 shares. Investors buy one or more shares from one or more domains. They earn a monthly revenue proportional to the actual advertising revenues generated by the shares of the domains they invest into. They can sell their shares for a lower price at any moment. But in case a buyer offers more than the last payed price they have to sell or update their investment to the new best price. An investor may decide to buy a domain name and have it transferred. In this case he must pay a total price equal to the sum of each share's actual price multiplied by a minimum transaction profit factor.

I find domain trading a real challenge. I know people that made millions with domains but I'm not one of them (yet). Personally I need to work on solid grounds and "luck" is not a factor to consider in my business plans. As far as I know this domain sharing concept is original and may lead to new cooperative ways of minimizing risks and costs for domain investors.
You can see an example of how a high PPC Exact Keyword Domain parking page looks like here: http://www.CarQuotes.com.ar ("Car Quotes" PPC:$25.33 Local Monthly Search Volume:450,000 August/09).
And if you are interested you can find more about this concept in my website: http://DomainShareTrading.com.

How to Pick a Good Domain Name For Your Website 0

Posted by administrator On 11:02 AM 0 comments

The domain name is one of the most important decisions that you can make when starting a website. There are a few things to consider when you're picking a good domain name.

1. Keep It Short
You want people to remember your domain name, so try to keep it as short as possible. 10-15 characters is best for this.

2. Make It Memorable
Don't compromise on being memorable to make the name short. It's better to have something catchy than short. One of my websites has a 25-character name, but it's turned into an abbreviation among the userbase on the site, and everyone remembers it very well.

3. Hyphenate If Necessary
Have a great idea, but someone else had it and already registered the name? No matter, put hyphens between the words. There's some debate as to hyphenated names, but in my experience it doesn't hurt.

4. Avoid Non-Dot-Com TLDs
.info and the like are generally associated with lower quality sites. Also, people are more likely to remember a site whose URL ends in .com instead of anything else. If the .com version of the name you want is taken, try .net (only if it's a really good idea) or just come up with another idea.

Remember that the domain name can make or break your site, especially if you plan on using viral marketing or anything of the like to promote your site. The more your URL stands out, the more people are going to remember it, and this ultimately means more visitors for you!

Evolution and Choices in Web-Hosting 0

Posted by administrator On 10:58 AM 0 comments

Web hosting needs and demands fluctuate as a business develops. For different projects, different kinds of contracted web hosting are available. For each project, looking at your needs for reliability, support and control and weighing them against cost and technical involvement. Sometimes total control drives decision making and in other situations it is simply more cost effective to outsource to the lowest cost vendor.
When approaching a new project, the first question that starts the conversation is 'host in our office' or 'host with a vendor'. With a business based in South Florida, with the accompanying daily storms, the question is not 'if the power were to go out', but rather 'when the power goes out'. And its not just the power outage, its also the communication/internet outages that we would have to contend with. So, for a company based in South Florida, for example, hosting with an outside vendor with best in class resources is an easy conclusion.
Defining where and how meant coming to terms with the offerings and the nuances. We have found that web hosting has evolved over the past few years and not only are there many vendors, there are also many different kinds of hosting accounts available. Four main segments exist: shared, managed, virtual and dedicated. As you go from shared to dedicated hosting, flexibility, performance and control increase - and so does cost.

Shared hosting is web hosting with limited access to the underlying machine. Generally, you are limited to uploading your files to your folder. Shared hosting accounts come on both Windows and Linux platforms and usually include the various types of databases: MySQL and Microsoft SQLServer. The key advantage of shared hosting is it is extremely cheap. Accounts for less than $10 a month are common. The disadvantages are limited database size, limited database backups. Another more subtle disadvantage is that the webserver settings are controlled by the hosting company and are set for overall machine performance, rather than optimized for your website's needs. Customer Support is often limited and response time. This is the classic cut-rate, make it up in volume offering.

As computing technologies have evolved and as machines have gotten more powerful two new classes of hosting have been offered: virtual private servers and managed servers.
Managed servers give you more power and are useful for websites that get a lot of traffic. Fewer accounts share the underlying hardware, giving everyone better performance. Its also likely that in a big server farm, when competing for human attention, the managed servers are probably more attentively managed than the shared hosting. Similar to shared hosting, your access is limited to uploading files. At the same time, your performance is likely better as data centers can optimize and tune the performance for a machine that is handling fewer accounts.

The second variant, virtual private servers (VPS) gives the account holder more control. In this scenario, you have a slice of the entire machine that is uniquely yours. You have root access and can log in using software that allows you to have the whole graphical interface that you are familiar with on your laptop or pc. In this scenario, you have total control over your webserver and its settings, your database is under total control. If you have custom software, you can install it and run it. The hosting company will place few restrictions on you. The trade off is you take full responsibility for what happens on your machine - this includes viruses protection and backups. The big gains with virtual private servers are the total control over configuration. Where shared hosting might skimp on performance optimizations that load the server, in the virtual private server situation, you can let the server do file compressions and optimizations that can give your customers a markedly better experience. When we shifted our marketing website to a VPS and took control of the system settings, we saw a massive increase in performance.

The fourth choice is a dedicated server. In this case, the hardware is dedicated to your account and you share resources with no one. This option is best compared to self hosting in your own office. The dedicated server gives you the resources of a world class data center such as storm protection, backup power supplies and redundant networking that would be hard to replicate in your own office. From a cost perspective, this is similar to leasing equipment. The added cost acts as an insurance policy as the data center should be able to provide you with on-demand hardware replacements if a disk, motherboard or power supply goes bad. Additionally you likely have access to support personal that complement your own team, offering expertise in firewalls, networking and server configurations.

Today's market is extremely dynamic and there is great flexibility for the consumer. While there are discounts for long term contracts, most accounts have no time commitments and change is rather easy. We've found that the trade off in choices is really tied to the balance we would like to strike between technical involvement and the website's traffic demands.

So how do you go about finding the best affordable web hosting plan that works? You need to start at the beginning and choose what you want out of your web hosting in the first place. It's no good simply going for the cheapest or the most advertised affordable web hosting plan until you know what service they provide and at what cost per website. Certainly not a free package as you need the credibility of being seen as a professional business and therefore people might then buy from you.

If you are at all serious about making money on the web, you will almost certainly need multiple websites to be able house your web pages and blogs. This is an important consideration as it directly influences your costs and profit. Therefore, the ability for a Web Host to host multiple domains on one account is important.
Next is reliability, the benefits of multiple web hosting as above is completely screwed up if your host has a lot of down time! So check for reliability.

Then I guess ease of use comes next. You don't want to have to spend loads of time working your way through their obscure systems to get your websites online and working complete with an email system.
Before I go further, I strongly believe that you need to know that if you are in trouble that a good support system is in place 24/7. There is nothing worse than not being able to sort out a problem when you most need to! Does your chosen Host have a written guide of how to use the system and how to promote your website?
Adequate bandwidth to grow your business from the start. How many times do you see the so called "Gurus" stuffing up on a launch because they "ran out of bandwidth" because of extreme demand? Most of it isn't true and is just hype to get you to buy if you didn't go first time, by making you think that so many others wanted it therefore it must be good! Anyone worth his/her salt would arrange with their website host to increase bandwidth for a major launch. It can be done!

You want to look and see what "extras" they offer, some offer a web site search engine submission service, and others have free emails systems in their web-hosting plan. Some even offer free eBooks to sell and earn commission. Other web Hosts offer an affiliate package that means you can get your web hosting free if you sell an affordable web-hosting plan on their behalf. Get as much as you can for your money!
So to sum up you should at least check for :
  • multiple domains
  • reliability
  • ease of use
  • email system
  • support system
  • Adequate bandwidth
  • "extras"
You can search on online forums and search engines for advice, but you might get swamped with information, so use the list above to sort out what you want and go for it. Or of course you could take a chance and look at what I recommend as the best affordable web hosting plan in my experience!

Making a Personal Website - 5 Quick Steps 1

Posted by administrator On 10:49 AM 1 comments

Making a website as an extension of your existing web presence or launching a new project need not be an unruly task.  Your site can be up and running in as little as 5 quick steps!

Step 1: Your Theme
You no doubt have an idea in place as the theme of your website.  Your subject can be as simple, engaging and enduring as your imagination takes you.  It need not be complex, and embellishment is an ongoing process, easily put into effect.  Your theme may be your hobby, your cause, your creative talents, your pet or numerous other interest you want to share through your web presence.

Step 2: Your Domain
Your domain name is your URL that reflects the nature of your theme.  You may use a keyword descriptive of your theme, such as your cat site,  thecatsplace.com or some like catchy reflection.  Using a singular common keyword can be challenging as most will be taken or  the search will be too broad for any type of position in search engine inclusion.

Step 3: Site Builder
For a first time website or when you do not wish to bother with html coding or the ongoing expense of a web designer, a site builder is an easy option.  Make your site with no coding required with a type, point and click innovative all in one editor.  Your hosting is included either as host for your site or a site that is free for no more cost than hosting your account.

Step 4: Instruction
Every web site builder comes with step by step instruction. To make your website easy and quick, read through the instruction before you begin to get the feel of the process.  There is always additional tips, Q/A guidelines and email/phone help available.

Step 5: Follow-Through
No idea, intent or desire can be obtained without follow-through.  Alterations are to be expected and a mere added benefit with the freedom of doing your own site.  Imagination is dauntless and empowering limited only by fear or delay.  When you just do it, it is done and you go from there.

Of course, your idea is never complete, as that is what evolving is all about.  Fresh ideas and new concepts are part of today, as they were of yesterday and will be tomorrow.  The difference is, it is Your project.  Your website is a click away with timely quick steps and your own imagination.

Where Do You Get Your Blog Content? 0

Posted by administrator On 10:43 AM 0 comments

Sometimes that blank box in your blog just stares back at you! What are you going to write about today? Has this happened to you?

You want people to visit your blog, and not only that you want people to revisit your blog. How do you get this to happen? Well it all starts with your content. You need to make sure your content is valuable to the reader.

Here are some great places to help spark your blog back into life!
• Personal stories - Everyone likes to be a fly on the wall. Write something that has happened to you, or someone you know. Stories are a very effective way to persuade people in a direction. This story should of course pertain to your market.

• Lessons Learned - Everyone in business at some point learned what works and what doesn't. Even if you are new, and still learning, you are still more experienced than someone. If you have had an "ah ha" moment, or learned something worthwhile, save someone the struggle and share it.

• Product or Service reviews - This is a great way to get your own product some exposure, however you have to be neutral, otherwise you're just tooting your own horn and people will see through it.

• Editorials - Give your opinion. Make sure you state that you have an opinion to share if people are used to you writing just your thoughts. This can be very powerful though

Blogging can be extremely effective. Stay consistent and write content rich information and you will see an impact in your business.

How to Choose Your Blog Topic - 3 Questions 0

Posted by administrator On 10:40 AM 0 comments

1. What are you passionate about?
Almost every pro blogger I've read says the same thing-be passionate about your topic.  Think about it: you may spend the rest of your life making weekly (if not daily) post about your chosen subject.  It better be something you really care about.
I want to remind you of a couple of things here:
First, you may never make any money blogging.  Secondly, if you do make money, it will probably take several months (or years).  With these two things in mind, it makes sense to blog about something you enjoy.  If you blog for the sake of money, you'll quickly give up.

2. What do people ask you about?
This question is a great way to figure out what you already know that others are interested in.  What do friends, family, or acquaintances ask your advice on?  This can be anything, from recipes to investment tips.  I started my fitness website because I've been giving training advice for years.  You may have some hobby that your friends always ask you about.  Every one of us knows something that is helpful, interesting, or inspiring (or all three).  Blogging is your chance to share this information with the world.

3.  What are you learning?
Is there something you've been learning?  Blog it!  You don't really have to be an expert-just invite others along your journey.  You may offer fresh insights the "experts" have overlooked.  I'll give you an example from the health/fitness genre:  many blogs are started by overweight individuals who want to journal their weight loss.  These blogs can be very inspiring, even though they aren't from "fitness experts."
I hope these three questions will help you decide what your blog's topic should be.
